Little Baby Preparing…

January 19, 2010

So, I have come to realize that while having a surprise baby is exciting it is also a tad harder to feel prepared for.   Most neutral stuff really lends more towards BOY and will work great for BOYS.   The browns, grays, yellows, greens are all more boyish.   So I am preparing the best I can.  I crocheted this blanket to match the room/decor, in brown, mossy green and cream.   Then I though well if it is a girl and she has to wear all those Neutral clothes, then the least I could do is crochet a few girly hats to put on her, right? LOL

I also started a blanket that was girly so I would have it as well.  Ran out of yarn awhile ago and not going to the store until Friday.   Must find something to keep my fingers busy while I rest on the couch with the heating pad every now and then!!

Baby girl update

April 25, 2008

So things have finally “normalized” around here somewhat.  After almost 2 weeks of Breastfeeding woes having to pump and supplement, etc…  we are now breastfeeding exclusively for 1.5 weeks now!! YAY!!   Baby girl had a rough latching learning curve but we made it through.

So we are sleeping about 2-3 hour stretches about 3 a night then I get another hour or so before I get up to shower before my husband leaves for work.   I am slightly tired, lol.   And not sewing too much, especially at night since I used to stay up until midnight to sew and am now going to be between 9 and 10:30 to get some extra sleep.

Finally got some new pictures loaded.  These are from the last weeK!    She has changed/grown so much already!

Love this one, hehe

In a gown/hat I made

Enjoy the pictures and hopefully I will be posting SEWING again soon!! 😀  Right now I am working on diaper wholesale orders, so nothing fun to show, lol.

April 1, 2008

Hey mamas!!  Sorry I havent been around for a long while.  I am still carrying baby girl snuggly inside!! Could be tonight or could be another week or so.  My “estimated” due date is April 9th, so a week from tomorrow!!

Thanks for all the sweet comments, emails and hopefully my next post will be BABY NEWS!!  😀

So squishy… Ahh…

March 17, 2008

So I sew cloth diapers “for a living”.  Sometimes means that my own children go without anything sewn by me as I spend my sewing time making diapers for others baby’s bums. lol.  But today I FINALLY finished the diapers I set out to sew for baby girl.  These are all my own pattern and brand, Bottombumpers!

Handdyed BV and OV fitteds:

Embroidered NB AIOs:

Baby Girl’s Bedding & Crib all put together & New 3D picture!

March 2, 2008
So I finally finished the last piece of the nursery, recovering the mobile. My Mom took me shopping yesterday too and bought the mattress & crib sheet/pad so I could put it all together!!

Here are all the pictures. I have SNS’ed all the pieces as I finished them before but here it is together and the mobile finished.

I took the mobile from my son’s crib bedding and recovered it and self-drafted the little “birdies”. They are scraps of coordinating Heather Bailey Freshcut fabrics with sewn on little wool felt “wings”

Also I went this past Thursday to see my Sister-in-Law, Carol, who is an Ultrasound Tech and measured baby girl and we managed to get ONE 3D picture.  She was so smushed in there with hardly any fluid around her now that was all we could get.   According to the U/S measurements/calculator she weighs approx. 5lbs right now.  So my guess is 7.5lbs at birth!  We shall see!!

Rompers, Dress and more diapers!!!

February 27, 2008
Here are the items I finished today!  I used these short rompers for my other kids almost ALL summer long and hadnt ventured to try them before.   They were surprisingly easier then I thought after I morphed and made up something that suited me!I morphed the bottom of the KS3090 “sleeper/romper” shorts view with a “baby t-shirt” from otto 4/04 I believe it is!

And I morphed the same KS3090 bottom with a curved raglan top from otto 2/04. and heavily modified the Otto 1/05 baby dress for the dress:

And then 4 more wholesale diapers for a new Bottombumpers retailer!

I think i will cut/make at least 3-4 more rompers for baby girl!!  We will use them all the time I just know it!

Who knew Cloth Napkins could be so COOL!!!

February 22, 2008

So in our efforts to become more green, reduce our waste, etc… we *read: I, with a little hestitancy from hubby* have decided to switch to cloth napkins.  I made a set of 6 last week from some old stashed zebra pattern flannel and we used them tonight for the first time.

The kids could/would not stop going on about how cool they were, how soft it was to wipe your mouth with…  “they fit right in my lap”.. hehe…  They were thoroughly excited when I told them I was going to make more from the leftovers from all the flannel pj pants I sewed them!!  OMGosh you would have thought I told them Christmas was coming early this year!! hehe, gotta love it!

So here are the napkins.

There are 15 total here in this picture.  But I laid them out just to show the different prints. So with our CURRENT family of 5 this will last us 3 days.  And I made 6 last week, so we have enough for 4 days, if we are just home and using them for SUPPER. 😀

Here are the 2 car seat head support/pads I finished today as well for Baby Girl. LOVE them!!

Here are some Handdyed Bamboo Velour Fitted Diapers I finished for a Bottombumpers customer of mine, Misty!!

And here is a picture of me in a shirt my friend Kate Silk Screened for me.. She designs the graphics herself and screens them in here home.  She has a business called Good Karma Commune which she stocks at Eclectic Earth and sometimes at Retro Femme with me!

In case you cant read it, it says “mama” on it.  My youngest asked me today what it said and I told him and I had fun asking him to repeat it and hearing him say it.. it was so SWEET!!!  He has this southern accent I am not sure where he got it from, lol.  And it sounds so sweet like “maw-maw”  My heart is full!!!

Some things I have been working on…

February 12, 2008

Just a bunch of random things I have finished the last few days… 😀

 Baby Girls Bumper Pads

Here is a quick picture of the crib skirt.  It matches the back of the quilt! 😀

Some custom fitted diapers of mine I finished up!

And a few “wetbags” that are used to carry dirty cloth diapers while out and about.  Waterproof inner and zipper closure.

Thanks for looking!

I just couldnt spend $13….

February 9, 2008

So after realizing that not only was my old “car seat pad/head support” thingie BLUE, it was also horribly stained.. ICK..

So I looked at Wally World and they are $13!!!! SO I thought, HEY I can make that, lol. So after the revelation, my mind just wouldnt quit until I did it!

Mine turned out a little smaller and I overstuffed, in my opinion, the “pillow” part. And I didnt think until about 1/2 way through that I should have sewed the “pillow” part on the pad and THEN stuffed it!! WOW what a genius idea, lmbo!!!

Old and New:

I will definately be making a few more of these as a spare is always nice and I am not sure this one will work long as it is a tad small.

Oh and if you didnt know already, sewing on bias tape on curves is hair pulling sometimes, lol.  And this makes Item #2 that is usable and needed for new baby girl for the “Sew for your Own” Challenge!!!!!
